Kids Care Clubs Holiday Cookie Share

Kids Care Clubs
Holiday Cookie Share

Celebrate the Holidays by sharing festive cookies with your club members and a group in your community such as seniors, veterans, or families who eat at soup kitchens.

A Kids Care Clubs Holiday Cookie Share involves each club member bringing in 3 dozen homemade cookies.  If a kitchen is available where you meet, your club could bake them together.  Two-thirds of the cookies will go to a group outside of your club, one-third will be shared among club members.

Materials Needed:

  • Festively decorated holiday cookies
  • Paper cupcake holders to help package the cookies
  • Baskets, cardboard gift boxes or plastic containers
  • Holiday themed napkins or tissue paper

Steps Involved:

  1. Decide who will receive your cookies. Ask the agency if they accept home baked cookies.
  2. Decide how you will collect your cookies.
  3. Check out the Internet for holiday cookie recipes if baking with your club members.
  4. Use the Holiday Cookie Share Flyer/Poster if club members will be bringing cookies from home to share.  The poster notes the date, time and location of your meeting.  It also asks if the parents can help at the "Cookie Share" meeting or help to deliver the cookies. They should bring an extra container to bring home their cookies.
  5. Prepare holiday gift boxes, baskets or plastic containers to pack up the cookies you are delivering to your recipients.
  6. Arrange tables or desks in a fashion that the club members can place their cookies and easily move from plate to plate to gather their cookies.
  7. Host your Holiday Cookie Share meeting.  Tell kids to wash their hands before gathering the cookies and packaging the cookies to give away.
  8. Read a story from the Holiday Hope Chest Books About Giving Recommended Reading list, or print out song sheets from the Internet to sing holiday songs.  Or,
  9. Print out Holiday Symbols - What do they mean?   Discuss with the kids.
  10. Package the cookies.
  11. Deliver the cookies to your agency.  If possible, stay to read a holiday story or sing holiday songs.
  12. Complete a Club Response Card.
