A read-a-thon enables kids to show compassion and commitment as well as make a tangible contribution to provide basic necessities for children in Myanmar and China.
In times of disaster, Kids Care Clubs read-a-thons have raised thousands of dollars to help children after 911 and those affected by the 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia as well as raising $18,000 for blankets for children in war-ravaged Afghanistan.
The Kids Care for Kids in Asia Read-a-thon can be done after school, on the weekend or at home in one or more sessions. Kids Care Clubs members raise money from the pledges they receive. For example, if a student receives a pledge for $.10 a minute from friends and relatives and completes a 100-minute reading session, $10 is raised.
