Memorial Day Projects 

In 1868, a veteran's organization, impressed by stories of women decorating both Confederate and Union soldiers' graves after the horrific Civil War, organized a Decoration Day service in Arlington National Cemetery to honor fallen soldiers. Today Memorial Day, a national holiday, is observed in every country where American soldiers are buried.
