Make a Difference Day
Almost Sleepover
The United States of Community Service (USCS)Make A Difference Day Almost-Sleepover wants to engage kids from all 50 states to participate in a Make a Difference Day Almost Sleepover on October 22, 2011. Make a Difference Day is the largest national day of community service. It is also the last day of generationOn's Make Your Mark Week.
This event was created by the Kenney sisters, who in 2010 held an almost sleepover event – a night filled with community service projects. They won a Make a Difference Day award of $10,000 which they donated to a shelter for moms and kids. They want to empower children to make a difference in their communities, their nation and their world by providing opportunities for children to get involved in service and working with and supporting the efforts of other child-centered nonprofit organizations.
