The Yancey Kids Care Club in Esmont, VA, has been focusing on animals during the 2006 - 2007 school year. They took a visit to a local no-kill animal sanctuary and collected $300 for them in October. They have been very focused the last couple months on the World Wildlife Fund. They worked in teams to research the threats against various endangered animals on our planet. Each team created a presentation for the rest of the school about the animal they chose, what's threatening it, and what can be done to help. They then challenged the rest of the kids to get involved. They are doing a coin drive and are hoping to be able to "adopt" one of each of the animals they researched.
